The Star Wars workbooks are a perfect compliment to our online curriculum. They venture beyond grade-level standards in our local schools. My son is not particularly familiar with Star Wars but he knows he wants to be a Jedi. The story-based activities spark imagination and make learning fun. As soon as we finished this book, my son asked if we can start the 3rd Grade book right away. There’s no better compliment than that!
This arrived today and my 1st grader didn't want to put it down! I wish they made a few versions of each grade level so we could keep doing them after this one is completed. What my son likes best are the pages where there is a puzzle to solve with the completed math problems. For example, one page has a riddle and in order to solve the riddle you have to get the correct answer and match that number with the corresponding letter. This is more like an activity book rather than traditional math worksheets. The first 20 or so pages are very basic...less than, greater than, counting by 2's, 5,s 100's, etc. The adding/subtracting double digits and fractions throughout the rest of the book are right on target though! Definitely recommend for a star wars fan!
I’m unimpressed with this book. I expected it to have lots of worksheets and a good amount of repetition since it’s a math only book, but it’s basically just a section out of an all inclusive workbook such as brainquest. I purchased because my son was moved up to second grade for math, but the teacher is not sending homework home for him since he’s technically not in her class (he’s a first grader). Since he was moved mid year I wanted him to have lots of practice so he felt confident in class. It touches on all the concepts, but there’s not enough material for him to truly get the practice and repetition in.
Fun book that seems to engage my sons attention. It seems just right for him between first and 2nd grade. He's good at math. We got this to help him keep his mind active and not have the summer slide. he doesn't complain (too much) about doing this. I have to read the instructions sometimes to him, but mostly he can figure out what is expected. pages are full color.
I wanted to give my bonus daughter a leg up in 2nd grade math because she was in tutoring and "behind" in public school. I do not have custody of her except for the summers so I am not a part of her regular education. Using lightsabers and other wonderful Star Wars objects, this has really helped her visualize math concepts! She regularly requests to do math time instead of playing on the iPad, so this book does something right!
I had my son complete this work book before starting 3rd grade to refresh on his 2nd grade math topics/skills and it was great practice! The workbook was not too long, not too short and there were a lot of great illustrations and activities throughout to keep the work exciting. I would highly recommend for the price. Already purchasing 3rd grade workbooks.
My child is actually doing workbooks in the summer and liking it. Books do tend to be on the easier side of the grade level. Might want to go for the next grade up.
Great problems and makes math fun for our 5-6 year old. Most problems are at 1st grade level no second.
